SOS ACADEMY SCHOOL REOPENING PLAN

2020-2021

Important Update: Online Curriculum

SOS Academy along with all Duval County public schools will begin our on-line home-based learning program this Monday, March 23rd. Teachers’ hours are from 8:00 am – 3:20 pm and students’ hours are from 8:00 am – 2:50 pm. Students are required to log into their academic programs beginning this Monday and attendance will be taken.  Parents we will also be communicating with students through Focus Parent Portal, Achieve 3000, personal calls and e-mails. Please review the information about the complete academic program for School of Success (SOS) Home Education Program HERE.

Extended Spring Break

SOS Academy will extend spring break for one week, through Sunday, March 22. As of right now, school will resume on Monday, March 23rd. Club Rec, will be closed until May 1st. Please continue to check our school website and Duval County's website at https://dcps.duvalschools.org/coronavirus for updates.

We have disinfected and sanitized the school. We will adapt our daily cleaning procedures to focus on ongoing sanitization of frequently touched surfaces including door handles, desks, and keyboards. If you have traveled out of the continental United States, if you have been on a cruise, or if a member of your close family participated in any such travel, you must not return to school until you have been self-isolated for 14 days and you are symptom free.

School Lunch

Beginning today, Tuesday, March 17th, a “grab and go” school lunch and snack will be available for ALL students between 11 am and 1 pm. SOS Academy will not be providing “grab and go” lunches however these lunches may be picked up curbside at your nearest Duval County Public School location. You do not have to attend that particular school to receive a lunch. The student must be present to receive the meal. Students aged 5 to 18 are eligible. Meals are not being provided to 3 and 4 year old students because they require a special menu free of any food that could choking hazards (i.e., small carrots, cucumber chunks, etc.). Please note: Meals will only be served during unanticipated closures. If the school was scheduled for spring break, meals will not be served during this time. Please click HERE to check for sites serving meals during extended spring break.
